Weight Loss Article - Groceries and Meals
"I've made my menus, now what?"
As wonderful as our weight loss programs are, there is
something they can't do for you...grocery shopping and meal
preparation. In an effort to provide a smooth transition into the
Smart Technique,
Six Week Body Makeover, or other program, follow these simple
tips for your trip to the grocery store.
Shopping for the goodies
With your shopping list in hand, visit your local grocery store
and do your best to stick to your new list when selecting your foods.
Certainly go ahead and purchase any other items you need, especially
if you are shopping for people not on the same program. But when
considering your own needs, try not to stray. It may be difficult
at first, but try and ignore the junk food (chocolate, soda pop,
ice cream, chips, etc.).
As you progress through your weight loss program, your desire for
these items will subside, but when starting out, they may be difficult
to resist. Try keeping a few craving-satisfiers in the pantry for
those inevitable moments of weakness, but make a conscious effort
to stay away from the junk food. Not only will you notice a drop
in your monthly food budget, but you will also notice increased
energy, improved motivation and empowering confidence.
Preparing the meals
Most of us are not gourmet chefs, so at first glance your menus
may look simple and unsophisticated. In reality, most weight loss
programs provide for an excellent variety of meats, vegetables,
fruits and grains in your diet. When designing your menus, try and
experiment with your meals by choosing items that can be combined
into a satisfying meal.
Eating healthy doesn't have to be bland and boring. Practice makes
perfect and soon you will have the menu experience necessary to
choose the tastiest combinations. In due time, you will discover
that when you eat healthy, the natural flavor of foods is enough
to satisfy even the most discriminating eater.
